Tulip appearance timing is not an exact science, these dates are a rough estimate: April 1 – 19, 2026

The 17 th Annual Lewes Tulip Celebration, co-sponsored by Lewes in Bloom and the Lewes Chamber of Commerce, celebrates Lewes’ Dutch heritage by planting more than 36,000 tulip and spring bulbs throughout the town-all planted by Lewes in Bloom volunteers in fall 2025. The timing of the tulips’ appearance is an inexact science and either milder or colder weather in advance of the event dates (April 1 – 19, 2026) can increase the probability that the dates of the celebration may not exactly coincide with the tulips blooming!

To celebrate America’s 250th , “The Tulip of Lewes” was planted in 1812 Park, on Second Street, in front of City Hall and in numerous privately-owned Lewes gardens because the bulbs were sold to the public in fall 2025. Many of the public parks will have red, white and blue plantings. The “History in Bloom” walking tours associated with the Tulip Celebration, co-presented by Lewes in Bloom and Historic Lewes, will incorporate America’s 250 th , as it relates to Lewes.
